A Haptic Compass is a wearable device that will subtly let you know which way north is using a small vibration.
Has anyone every considered getting one, or know of anyone who has tried one out?

I have not, but then again, finding north is not that important for me generally. Sounds neat, though.

I once read about someone wearing one for an extended period and when they stopped wearing it they felt weird, like they had lost a sense.

Yes exactly, I like to think that it would be some kind of sixth sense that workssubconciously subconsiously subconsciously once you get used to wearing it.

When I am lost knowing where north is does not really help me. I'd rather just whip out my cellphone and use the gps turn-by-turn to lead me home.

Yes, a single datapoint would be rubbish on its own.
If your brain processes the information in the background then you would always have an inkling where everything was in relation to everything else.
That's the theory, anyway. I might try it out for myself.

Given the Apple watch with one simple App can bang your wrist and even include more wrist thumping to let you know you are going North west or east or with agreeable code tell you with verbal output using some famous actress's voice the actual GEO information.
I can see how useful this wood be when looking for choices of Starbucks in my hood and even though I live in a tiny hamlet there are multiple choices
