I go to /x/ about every two months. I never go to /b/.

The only "horrifying" things you'll find on /b/ are cp and... uh... I'm not really sure what else. Maybe scat?

Well, not specifically I don't think. Most of the "shocking" stuff on /b/ would probably seem vanilla to you, aside from cp and maybe scat. I doubt gore threads happen anymore.

How much CP have you seen in your life? Approximately.

That depends on how strictly you define "cp".
There's the screenshot of AT that contained cp
There's whatever was spammed on junkuchan, which may or may not have actually been cp but was 3dpd so it still warranted removal
There's some sketchy bathtub photos from when I was a toddler
There's albums like Houses of the Holy, Nevermind, and Virgin Killer

@OP
I wasn't impressed. I tried it once but it seemed to be mainly memes.
On there, at this moment the front page topics are:
A guy who's cut himself, and used the blood to write a timestamp on a sheet of paper, he is bored and wishes to talk
A fellow attempting to incite a "twitchraid" on /magic_gaming_mggp, whatever that means
A drawthread
A rule 34 porn thread of MLP
A thread in which people describe the premise of an anime, and you have to guess the title.
Things that scared the fuck out of you as a child
3 porn threads
You laugh you lose
Not terribly horrifying or creepy, imo.

Anyone who posts on /b/ is a bizarre, horrible, creepy, loser, waste of human flesh. Thanks.

Go browse /b/ on 4chan for a few hours then come back and tell us what you learned.
Edit: Just a warning, though. In browsing this type of content habitually you will become desensitized to it. You will begin to have obsessive thoughts about it. Be prepared to deal with compulsions, and learn to deal with them in a safe way that does not affect others.
Be safe.

Also, /b/ regulars were already horrible antisocial outcasts. They just found a common place to be anonymous about it, yet still do it.

Around 2006-2007 it was pretty horrible, though I could still eat breakfast and have a nice cup of coffee while browsing /b/ and hacking some dude's Facebook. Strangely the constant gore and weird porn didn't get to me.
> Edit: Just a warning, though. In browsing this type of content habitually you will become desensitized to it.
Well, you do. Seeing the same images, be they gore, CP, or whatever you just start to recognize them and dismiss them as something posted to shock you.
> You will begin to have obsessive thoughts about it. Be prepared to deal with compulsions
That's entirely subjective. I don't have flashbacks about it or anything... /b/ today is not the /b/ of 2004-2006, nor is it the /b/ of 2007-2010. There were weird differences in what the mods saw as "issues"; some would ban you for spamming memes, some wouldn't give a shit, some asked you to join Lockerz... All the while people were posting gore and CP and scat and bestiality porn with wild abandon. It was weird. I'm sort of glad I hit /b/ when I did. It sort of set the bar for the Internet. When the MLP craze hit, I pretty much left. :/ Boxxy was funny. MLP just ramped up that funny to an ironic funny level I couldn't take. (BTW: I still follow Catie on YouTube. She's still queen of the Internet!)

That is always good advice online.
