No... The death penalty should not be abolished. If you're found guilty of murder(and has been proven you did so), you should be executed the same way you killed the other person.

You're putting words in my mouth. What I'm saying is that those that have been caught for offending should not be released back into society where the temptation to re-offend exists. Yes it is a mental problem, but the magnitude of damage one single infraction causes isn't worth the possibility that maybe they won't try to do it again. This isn't like when someone is murdered and people mourn for awhile but gradually move on with their lives. This is something that will affect even the smallest aspects of the victim's life in one way or another for the rest of their life. The damage can't be undone. Just because one guy doesn't re-offend, does that make up for the guy who does? Can you tell that to the family of the next victim?

This is a bigger issue than just pedophilia. I could list off other types of offenders who could reoffend in some awful way when released. Rapists, murderers, abusers, stuff like that. All heinous crimes that can ruin lives.
So it becomes an issue of do we want our prisons crammed full of people who are going to stay there forever, or do we try to reform some of them into functioning members of society? Because some can indeed be reformed, as the article I linked to showed. And, if the prison system is doing its job properly, only those who've actually responded to the reform treatment would be let out earlier.

I've already shown you credible evidence of treatments having an impact. Clearly, your notion that sexual urges are completely unchangable is wrong. Now I'm not saying that they can all be changed for the better, but some can be, so it's worth trying.
