I hear so many people saying that "poor people are just lazy" and referring to mythical "welfare leeches" who, in reality, barely even exist. In most sane countries, people understand that poverty sucks, and that it is a complicated issue, not just a childish, simplistic matter of "being lazy". So why do so many US conservatives hate the poor?
