Is it really a coincidence though? Autphag doesn't hate people, he acts out due to low self esteem and a fear of rejection. He has unwittingly taken up the role of the outcast. Then in turn to cope he rejects society and people out of hand. He's not as sickly as he pretends but he is a sick man.
