fucking fuck fucks. got up to do a skype call for work, no internet. fuck
now i've got to drive to work to use the internet up there. On the way i call my ISP and bitch because it's down, again, when i actually need it most. this always happens and they take all fucking day to fix it. ''if internet was a utility, like electric, then they wouldn't get paid despite the service being disconnected. If my electric goes out (which it actually never does) then they fix that shit immediately so we can start using kw/h again.
internet? they don't give a fuck. But if i ask for it they'll credit back to me whatever that downtime is worth (cents, likely) and i'm like, "why do i always have to ASK for that, why doesn't your system just automatically charge me back when it's down?
"well sir, we don't know it's down unless it's reported," and i'm like, "but your system automatically tells me it KNOWS service is interrupted and a customer service person can't help me any more than that. THEY ALREADY KNOW BECAUSE THEIR LITTLE COMPUTER KNOWS IT'S DOWN, OF COURSE YOUR SYSTEM COULD AUTOMATICALLY CHARGE BACK FOR DOWNTIME," but anyway, i apologized for complaining to the wrong person and i know her script doesn't answer the questions i'm asking and i'm making it hard on her, but fuck this "the internet is not a utility" bull fucking shit.
so, i got off the phone and somehow they got my internet turned on. This ALSO happens every time. i call and complain and they turn my shit back on immediately. The funny part is, though, that i can't connect to any open wi-fi near by, so everyone else appears to be down. somehow magically i have internet in a sea of downtime.
so, time warner, don't tell me you can't keep uptime when you're doing maintenance on your broke ass system, you just don't want the extra expense. fucking ass-holes.
edit: i've already done my skype call, btw. fucking 3 minute phonecall that almost cost me the whole morning, fuck!(Edited 48 seconds later.)
@previous (B)
but then i wouldn't have as much a reason to rail at my ISP when i lose internet.
more than anything i feel that if they are inconveniencing me without any compensation then it's my responsibility to cost them money in wasted customer service calls. i'm with time warner, and their shit has gotten so bad when you call to report an outage it just has a computer tell you "oh well, we're working on it." That's purely to stop calls to CS, because calls to CS cost money, so instead of improving their services they just add another layer of automation between the customer and a company representative. and
that's bullshit.
internet connectivity is a limited resource, and it's quickly becoming our most important utility if it's not already. but ISP's want to operate like they are providing
entertainment services equivalent to Cable TV.
it's not fucking cable TV you fucks!
the only job they should be doing is ensuring as much uptime as possible and expanding their bandwidth, that's it! but they want to do the opposite and instead spend their money on a conglomerate that tries to ALSO be content creators and not just a fucking utility pipe company.
Internet needs to be made into a utility, and ISPs should ONLY be in the business of improving their network. but no, these stupidly large companies see
other business models as being "money left on the table" for Time Warner (or whoever) and that's fucking retarded. your job is be a pipe, not try to be the pipe AND what flows through it!@ you
greedy fucks @559,328 (squeegee)
i have no such problems in yurop
competition is good
@559,328 (squeegee)
> but then i wouldn't have as much a reason to rail at my ISP when i lose internet.
maybe you should stop being such a little bitch then?????
@previous (D)
no, if they stop proving the service i'm paying for then i'm
going to bitch about it.
no amount of automation can stop me from bitching about it to a person.
Another reason I love my co-op service. Thanks squeegee.
