I lived in Texas and hated it there but they're really not all that bad. As far as Southern states go, Texans are actually quite progressive.

I hadn't heard that, but states like Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama have way worse education problems which leads to a lot more ignorance and bigotry. Texans still have a stuck-in-their-ways attitude but actually have some of the best schools in the country, so they're not quite as ignorant.

Some communities, yes. Of course there would still be bigoted politicians and their religious nutjob constituents trying to get involved, but most of the people wouldn't care. Texas is a very live and let live state. It's states like Mississippi and Kentucky where you'd have worry about being murdered.

there's trannies all over the larger cities, it's out in the country where you're likely to have more problems, but only if you live there. if you're just passing through they'll just look at you and be glad you're leaving.
Dallas/FtWorth, Houston, Austin with a big emphasis on Austin. those are your best places to live being gay or trans. you'll be able to find work at least.

i think Arlen is supposed to be like 100 miles outside of Dallas, so that'd be like Waxahachie or maybe Tyler. Small town like that you'd have a lot of gossip about you and all but you probably wouldn't be "welcomed." i doubt shamed either, but maybe just ignored. idk. if it's just a sprawling suburb then no one will give a fuck most likely, but you get into too small a community and you start to probably have more problems. of course that's mitigated by the extra space you'll have between neighbors and rural folks are weird to begin with, so, who knows.
but the bigger the city the better for that lifestyle. there's nothing for you in the country unless you're a hick or extremely wealthy

but also some areas are more conservative than others, like, i think you might avoid lubbock.
texas is a fucking big state and there's a very broad range of cultures and the north is nothing like the deep south or even the east. you can't really generalize too much about texas because it's so large. i mean, west texas is probably the last place you want to be trans, but, central texas, sure, you'll fit right in.
