It is, IMO, unethical to reveal an anon poster. However, some posters (I'm thinking Syntax, Matt, Iceland Guy, etc) have such distinctive text voices and posting patterns that it's pointless for them to post anon in the first place. So in the case of indentifying Matt, it's a technical violation of the rules but not a real infraction.

I don't see a problem with it, but everyone who has been here for any length of time already knows it's Matt. So revealing some anon poster as Matt may not seem like any big deal for a lot of us. Like Meta said, some posters just have really distinctive text voices/topics/posting patterns, and give themselves away no matter how "anon" they think they they're being.

Generally the onus is on the namefag to hide their text-voice. This isn't difficult to do, I've done this on Scatchan and /cow/ successfully. There is, for the record, 0% accuracy in identifying phagposts, except on Tinychan, where the admins assist users in cheating this anyway.
