Topic: Home owner master race

Who here fully owns their own home or has a morgage? I'm an owner of a 2 bed flat in east London that I got for £190,000 now worth well over £250,000 in a 2 year period. Feels good being a home owner master race. Hope rent prices keep rising.

Just be happy for your own good fortune, instead of trying to curse of everyone else.

What good is wealth if you can't lord it over the poor?

i did, well, i owned a condo. sold it during the big condo boom in uptown. made a little money on it too, which is nice. i renovated it while i was there which was expensive, but i did make all my money and then some. mostly i sold it because not only was it at a good selling price, but they were starting a 5 year construction project on the highway between my old condo and where i work. it was going to turn a 15 minute commute into an hour or more. so, i sold it off.

luckily the condo market dropped out and prices fell, i likely would have been stuck still in an overpriced undervalued property much too newly renovated to sell at a reasonable cost. so, i got out when the getting was good.

it was also way more work than i wanted to do again, the whole renovating it thing, and so i was looking for condos for a while up north but everything is still pretty over priced. actually the housing market may be better now, idk, i quit paying attention. for a while i was dead set against buying again unless i was getting married because in general the demographic is different. more families and retirees, really. my old condo was actually near a late night hot spot kinda area with a lot of bars and clubs so most of my neighbors there were young singles or unmarried couples which was perfect.

fuck a house though, i spent a couple of years looking at houses and pretty much everything is just in a subdivision, and i guess it never occurred to me that they are fucking ubiquitous. and they are nothing but old people and families and i would rather kill myself than be single and living in a subdivision. fucking mowing my lawn and shit, fuck that noise. that's a lifestyle you choose as far as i'm concerned.

i'm much more of a condo/apartment person. and i do like being able to just call maintenance and have them come fix something rather than go to home depot and buy what-the-fuck ever thing i need to spend 3 hours installing. i'm trying to work my way up to one of those fancy apartment condos with a concierge desk and like elevators and shit. that's like the best of apartment/hotel living without any of the inconvenience of home or condo ownership. they have on site maintenance like apartments and a concierge like a hotel. swanky.

but, fucking not cheap. i feel that i am on a career path that'll eventually get me there, so until then i'll live in apartments in between owning and renovating condos periodically.

oh, unless i get married and then my life is over and i'll be living in a suburb somewhere, but, then i'll probably have kids who'll end up doing the chores i hate anyway, so, that could work out as long as i only have to fuck with a yard for a few years.

I own my own home. It's worth $250k and I paid 20% deposit on it.. I'm hoping to have it paid off in 10 years or less, at the rate I'm going I should have it paid off in 5. Then it will be my rental property and I'll buy a nicer place without over extending myself with debt.

Well, thats the plan anyway.

I plan to move out of London in a few years and use the rental I get from this place to pay my morgage off and give me a lil extra income.
