I think it's terrible when people (especially girls and young women) compare themselves to and strive for an unrealistic, photoshopped, unachievable "ideal" body image. A lot of these women in magazines and ads look like they just got liberated from Auschwitz. So I think the message of "it's okay to be you" is a very positive one.

I'd agree with this if I didnt visit HAES websites to see how they really act.
A lot of it is very mean to proportionate people and tries to shame the public into finding obesity attractive.

A very valid point. But then, there's the other side of it wherein actually obese people might be encouraged to not try and get thinner, potentially leading to a a whole other set of medical problems.
There's certainly an ideal middle-ground to hit, at any rate.

Unhealthy and grotesque is not beautiful, by anyone's standards, period. If they mean fat acceptance as in being treated like human beings and not discriminated against because of their health problem, abso-fucking-lutely. But they've twisted fat acceptance to mean that it shouldn't be seen as a health problem at all and that people should see them as just as beautiful as anyone else and that's dangerous thinking from a public health standpoint.

It's the same thing as SJWs I guess. Treating people badly because of ethnicity or sex or orientation is bad, but then they go overboard with "DIE CIS SCUM" and tortoise/tortoiseself pronouns. Being 800lbs in a Rascal™ mobility scooter and being 80lbs trying to look like the girl in the Calvin Klein ad are both bad. I wish some major fashion company would come out and make a statement by only using models with a normal BMI.
