I think I would buy a house in Hong Kong and spend my life writing, painting, and doing a food magazine, as well as ghost hunting. I would have am excellent wine cellar and a nice motorcycle, but that is about it. I would give much of it to family and the poor. What about you, fora?

easy, i'd start buying franchises. lots of them. a whole variety of them, eateries, services, hotels, etc. whatever
and i'd start a management company with in-house accounting and all that bullshit to manage the whole thing. i'd just sit back and oversee the empire and pay people to do the heavy lifting.
something like that. i imagine i'd start by putting 10 million into a "retirement account" or some shit, or actually the best thing to do would be to buy a large expensive property that i can sit on and homestead and protect from everything else. if i fuck up and lose everything at least i'll be able to sell that property and just retire. that would leave me with like 40 years and 190 million bucks to fuck around with, and i think that'd be just fine. even if i manage it poorly as long as i'm not giving it away or wasting it i can run that money through all kinds of business ventures.
i'd also probably try to use my money to "break into" various fields i find interesting. i could get in on the production end of all kinds of stuff with 200 million. i could fund game development or even get into movie production. i wouldn't, but with 200 million you could pretty much do whatever you like. i guess i'd probably use it to generate jobs for people that i can leech off of for the rest of my life and hopefully earn me way more than my initial startup investment of 200 million.

yup, i would use my 200 million dollars to build a business mechanism that i, the owner, can flip on and watch do the work for me.
buy franchises, own the company that builds and maintains them, own the company that manages them, own the companies that provide materials and services to them. try to own as much of the whole cycle as you can, and the variety of it and the cross support helps keep the whole network healthy.
so like if i owned fast food franchises i'd have to buy food from the parent co. and lots of other stuff, but, i could certainly own a contracting company that i could hire to come build out everything. let them do the maintenance for all the different franchises i own as well.

A) you go to the franchise expo thing they do, there's also information about how franchises currently perform. i've been told by people who have the money to invest in things to "invest in things you use," so, like if you shop at walmart then invest in walmart stock. so i'd try to stick to things that are close to what i know. At the Franchise expo thing or whatever it is, when you sit down and talk with a parent co. about buying a franchise, they'll let you know where it'll be going. If they want to saturate your area locally, perfect, then you would want to select your location based on what you can afford. it's actually all broken down, a lot of the work is already done for you. That's kind of the thing about franchises, they are turn-key. all YOU do is pony up the dough and either manage it yourself or start hiring managers to run it and you manage the managers.
i mean stuff to look at would be fast-food and shit like starbucks. open 25 subways and it won't matter where they are OR how they perform individually. you'll just steadily reap a profit. if some are shit, shut them down and open others elsewhere. but that's a job for the bean counters in accounting to figure out.

but really it's a trickle, what comes back. the more YOu do the more you earn back. owner/manager of one subway will make a pretty good living, but, owner of 3 with 3 managers is an owner with a lot of overhead. if you can run more efficiently then you'll earn more as just an owner.
the franchise thing really is a good way to climb the wealth ladder, start with 1, then open another. then eventually you can have 10 or 15 starbucks and be bringing in good bank. but to be starting with 200 million there may be just a much better option for wealth multiplication. i fucking hate the stock market and i don't like the idea of putting all of my eggs into one basket, but with 200 million you could probably hire a bunch of stock brokers to run a hedge fund or some kind of financial mechanism instead of a business mechanism to earn you even more.
wouldn't it be nice to own a company that handles 4.5 billion dollars a year in assets? hmmmm

Buy a lot of real estate. Large properties all close to nice beaches. That way it's easy to stay at any beach I'd like for as long as I'd like, and they'll be spaced around the globe so that there's always a few with nice beach weather. Then if rent out the ones in not using. No permanent tenants, just rent to people who want to stay at the beach for a week or so. Over the course of 20 years or so, if probably make millions just from the rent, then I'd pick a favorite and sell all the others, making back all my money plus interest. I'd then put all that money in the stock market.
