Just wanted to share something I wrote up in Notepad outta my ass.

It's written from the perspective of a holy man left behind after the Rapture.

Story is in the image, link is here.

If the dark lord was in Hell too then his punishment might be that a dictator must stress over thinking about how many different ways they maybe assassinated. What makes this dictator any more different from that of us mortals? He was not all powerful like the Lord so that means they could easily
be stopped and controlled. This begs the question, however, that if the Lord intended for Earth to become a part of Satan’s domain then shouldn’t he know that humans will eventually want to rebel against their captor? Maybe this is
not the end of all things, but maybe this is his plan for a new beginning, a New Eden to rise up from the ashes of the old world.

Even to this day there are still women giving birth to new life. It pains me to think that the Lord is not there present in their lives and has only turned his focus to his own kingdom. I still hadn’t lost hope though even if I was left behind during the Rapture. I know that he left me behind for a reason and that reason is becoming more and more clear to me. I was to assist the humans in their uprising against the dark master without the divine intervention of the creator. I was to help bring forth a New Eden for the people. I clutch the holy
book in my arms at all times even though I knew the time of judgment had passed. There had to be another trial for humanity. Why would God simply end here when he loves us all?

During the time of this writing I am sitting alone inside of a bunker originally constructed in fear of a nuclear apocalypse. I guess there was a time the world was too atheistic to believe a biblical one could transpire. I will admit
that even I was skeptical myself. This could be why I wasn’t saved. How dare anyone question the Lord. Which makes it all the more puzzling that he would choose to allow me to see his greater plan or at least what could be his greater plan. Next to me by my chair is a small boy. He is merely sitting there patiently all while knowing the current state of the Hell that was once Earth. Sex traffickers frequent the land abducting both adults and children, with gender being irrelevant. Murder is as common as mail delivery was prior to the apocalypse. The world is no place for an orphan.

When I discovered the boy he was wandering a lonely street who’s asphalt was torn by the likes of war and alongside it laid ruined buildings of what lead to former great cities. He was drapped in nothing but rags and towels. He looked hungry implying that he didn’t have a proper meal in a long while. Knowing that I couldn’t forgive myself if I just walked passed him reinforcing any possible belief that nobody cared. I took the boy’s hand and walked him to this bunker. Fortunately for us, the bunker was still stocked with canned
goods. There was also a ruined table and a couple of chairs, but they were still usable. We sat down for our first meal in sometime.

As we ate, I started to make small talk with the boy. Figured it was rude not to ask for his name or know more about him. He told me his name was Adin and that he wasn’t always wandering the world homeless. He told me his parents both came from a smaller tribe on the outskirts of a city and that he was heading to this city in hopes of finding them. That both his parents mysteriously vanished one day during a raid of their village. He assumed the first place to begin his search for them was this city. I offered to accompany
him since I was heading that direction myself. The kid needed someone to watch over him. There was a good chance that his parents were killed or even taken by slavers. Night was approaching fast and it was too dangerous to be
travelling at night. We stayed in the bunker until morning.

Why did you bother posting the stupid fucking link, if you're just going to put the whole damn story on here?

You're a fucking idiot.

Found this site from the Wikipedia article for "flash fiction".
Got excited since it appears it can be published, but then I found this (see image).

http://flashfictiononline.com/main/

It appears this site is ran by a bunch of social justice warriors.

That is a lot of rules regarding short fiction.

@557,063 (Catherine !TGirlYJKXM)
lol, well, i can see what their intention is with this list. i'm sure they get some terrible, terrible just awful garbage come through there and this would at least give an upfront reason for rejecting someone's story because it's a thinly veiled politcal manifesto or some cliche riddled attempt at a genre piece. or something that's just outright bigoted really. it's actually quite nice of them to list all this stuff, because it will help some people keep from wasting their time. If i had a violent robot vs. mankind kinda thing i'd probably not send it here because they say they are bored of it. kinda sounds like they want more uplifting stuff since they seem to dredge through bullshit everyday. the fact that they have to even mention that they don't accept 2nd person narratives speaks volumes about their general submission quality.

most journals would maybe give a single paragraph outlining the sorts of submissions they accept, and then they would be very, very, VERY harsh during the weed out process. they still get shit, but they never get far enough along in a shit story to even know if the ending is a Surprise ending with little tying it to the overall plot. if you've used a deus ex machina then i doubt their try-hard interns got beyond the highly likely improperly formatted cover page to discover a hackneyed contrivance. the fact that they are even read that far means that it's likely that submitting a story here means you might actually get at least one reader. if not published.

but a lot of what they say they don't print, also most like real publishers wouldn't print either. not unless, like the guy says, you're really talented. then these rules don't apply, same with other publishers.

but nothing here really looks extreme in the way of, uh, like censorship. every publication will tell you what kind of story they publish.

i'm going to give you a couple of tips too, cathy

#1 i don't care how you get it, but you need to read On Writing, by Stephen King. just get it, and read it. it's pretty short, and it is really, really good. it's entertaining, and you will learn a lot about what you can do to become the best writer that you can be.

#2 write about what you know. this is pretty important. writing needs to sound genuine, it needs to be authentic. And to that end the author must be very informed on his subject material. sometimes research isn't enough, because nothing can ever take the place of experience. It's not what happens in a story that's necessarily interesting or even important, it's what the people learn and how they are changed and different in the end that really matters, and has meaning. insights that your characters have are just as important as building vivid imagery and crafting authentic sounding dialog. and all of that flows from choosing subject material that is very close to you, and that you have an intimate knowledge of.

so go read stephen king, and write stories about things that you know, and people that you know, and experiences that you know.
