Recent studies show that people who drink alcohol (especially wine) live the longest, then heavy drinkers, and then the people who die the earliest are non-drinkers overall! But what exactly does "moderate drinking" mean? I think the French would have a different definition than the Russians, and Midwestern US conservatives would have another definition still.

If you look up the studies, it's people who drink no more than 2 or 3 drinks per day. That's where the life expectancy peak is in their studies and that is what they define as moderate drinking.

If you drink more than 3 drinks a day, every day, and/or binge drink, then your life expectancy quickly drops off to far less than someone who doesn't drink.
