No they don't. Whales and dolphins are fish, not animals.

No, they are not fish, they are mammals.

They live in the sea. Therefore, from a culinary perspective, they are fish. Thanks.

Nope, they live in the sea, but are sea mammals. Not a fucking fish

If they were available from your local fishmonger or delicatessen, you would find that they are, in fact, classified as a fish. Remember, the Japanese, in their fine culinary tradition, were harvesting such fish from their seas many centuries before your ancesters had even seen or heard of them. If the wise Japanese consider the cetaceans to be best classified as fish, whom are you or I to challenge their judgement? Please try to expand your mind and open up your worldview.

That's not how classification of animals works.

"Fish" is a type of foodstuff. Calling a human "fish", makes about as much sense as calling a human "bread". Please try not to use such absurd, and obviously, fabricated arguments. This is an adult fora for intellectual discussion. Thanks.

That's because they're fish, not animals.

Culinary classification is more relevant to most people's lives than taxonomic classification. Whales, and dolphins, therefore, are properly classified as fish.

fuck PETA though, they deliberately lie and misrepresent everything from photos to facts. they seem to be under the impression that the ends justify the means so they'll use every manipulative tactic in the book in order to advance their cause. i actually read something about the amount of money they bring in and there were accusations bandied around that PETA is attempting to "manage the message" about animal abuse in order to scare up more money, the worse they make it look the more money they raise.
so, don't take PETA too seriously, at this point the money is more important than the truth, and the message has been very much perverted.
they also believe it's better to let animals overpopulate and starve to death than it is to have intervention in the way of population control, i.e. regulated hunting.
They also prefer to exterminate pets rather than let them be pets. don't ever surrender a pet to a PETA shelter, even if they promise it'll be adopted, they will kill it. PETA shelters have a 1% adoption rate.
PETA is basically being accused of literally stealing people's pets from their yards and killing them and like dumping them around town in dumpsters and shit. PETA doesn't endorse any kind of pet ownership, so, whatever they tell you is merely an attempt to convince people they do no kill sheltering.
so take whatever they say with a grain of salt, and don't let them anywhere near your pets. They are an extremist organization who's end goal is to kill your pets because they believe they are better off dead.
