It's important for my mom, but I dont really care too much. Though if you marry a nonjew, even if they aren't that religious, there's always the chance that down the road when you have kids, they will want to raise them christian and not jewish. Then you're kinda in a tough spot. Which is why jews tend to marry other jews. The worst that happens is they raise the kids to be more jewish than you'd want, but at no point are you giving up your cultural identity.
