what happened was is she released "artpop" which fucking failed big time, people gave even less of a shit about her, so she had to think of a new gimmick quick so she did an album of jazz standards with tony bennett and did the whole "ive loved jazz all my life anyone who knows me knows that!" and that was a huge failure as well, basically people stopped giving a shit and realized that she wasnt artistic or original she was just doing dumb shit to sell records.

The Lady is a Tramp with Tony Berett is from 2011. Artpop got released in 2013. She did participate in cheek-to-cheek afterwards, but yeah. She definitely did jazzy shit before faltering in popularity.

That was 50th anniversary of The Sound of Music, for the 2015 Oscars.

Performance was beyond amazing and most reviews said it was the best part of that show. Later I read she hired a vocal coach and practiced super hard ever day for hours - 6 full months.
