It doesn't justify rape, but of course it is a trait that would come about through evolution. Don't know about the fertility thing, that doesn't seem like something that would come about through evolution (the opposite actually, I doubt rapists and rapees would get together to make a nice family).

I don't know, female ducks do it. (albeit through their own ducky method)
For mammals, and particularly for humans, choice matings would be preferable (in terms of ability to successfully produce and raise a child into a functional adult) as gestation and rearing a child into adulthood requires a lot of time, resources, and support.
