How does hot water freeze faster than cold water? Why do zebras have stripes? What is the evolutional advantage of having stripes? They stand out more and are spotted by lions and other predators easier. It's almost like they didn't evolve but were created by an intelligent designer. And what of the banana (an atheist's worst nightmare)? Why does it come in its own packaging. It couldn't evolve that way. Check-fucking-mate.

Researchers at the University of California, Davis, say it's nature's way of protecting them from the bites of blood-sucking flies.
Evolution gave zebras shorter hair than similar species, like horses, leaving them more vulnerable to the wrath of blood-sucking flies, the researchers explained in a press release. Not only are the flies pesky, they also carry deadly diseases. If they were constantly biting, they would be a major risk to the zebras.
But for reasons that are not yet fully understood, the flies that pester large mammals -- usually horseflies and tseste flies -- avoid landing on black and white striped surfaces. And so, by giving them stripes, evolution gave the upper hand back to the zebras.

I'm sorry but researchers at the university of california can go fuck themselfs. Zebras are a lot bigger than flies and can smash them with their heads and tails. And what about horses and elephants? Why didn't they evolve with stripes to protect them from flies?

Actually it makes them more difficult to see by a predator
They all merge into one big conglomerate in the herd so lions and shot have trouble picking a specific one unless its alone

The modern banana had been artificially selected by man for quite a long time, to the extent that there is now very now no biodiversity in bananas and there is a very real risk they will go extinct
Modern bananas don't look anything like the bananas that were found wild in ancient times

There is evidence that the reason hot water often freezes faster than cold water is because of the chemical bonds holding the water molecule together
The hot water makes the covalent bonds stretch and lose energy, which means that when it comes to freeze it actually needs less than cold water, because that has more energy

a team of physicists from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, led by Xi Zhang, have found evidence that it is the chemical bonds that hold water together that provide the effect. Each water molecule is composed of one oxygen atom bonded covalently to two hydrogen molecules. These bonds involve atoms sharing electrons and are well understood. The separate water molecules are also bound together by weaker forces generated by hydrogen bonds. These forces occur when a hydrogen atom from one molecule of water sits close to an oxygen atom from another.
The team now suggest it is these bonds that cause the Mpemba effect. They propose that when the water molecules are brought into close contact, a natural repulsion between the molecules causes the covalent bonds to stretch and store energy. When the liquid warms up, the hydrogen bonds stretch as the water gets less dense and the molecules move further apart.
The stretching in the hydrogen bonds allows the covalent bonds to relax and shrink somewhat, which causes them to give up their energy. The process of covalent bonds giving up their energy is essentially the same as cooling, and so warm water should in theory cool faster than cold. The team’s calculations suggest that the magnitude of the covalent bond relaxation accounts for the experimental differences in the time it takes for hot and cold water to freeze.
