Topic: What will it take for you to realize police brutality is getting out of hand?

Will you have to lose a loved one to a "mistaken drug raid"?!

Nothing. Noone here believes that it isn't. Now fuck off.

Wrong. Plenty of shitposters believe the police brutality is justified.

If you're not doing anything wrong, then why the fuck are you running when a cop stops you?

pretty much what's going to happen is 2-fold

#1 there is going to be a very large up-tick in officer surveillance. it began with the installation of cameras in police cars, will continue with the outfitting of officers with wearable cameras, and it'll end with airspace restrictions being lifted for police surveillance drones that will basically give us 100% aerial coverage of every police officer on duty.

#2 law enforcement will begin adopting more military style top-down support for officers. Every officer action will be under direct scrutiny, and officers will require legal clearance to engage in policing actions. You can expect citizens to be under more surveillance as well, as various law breaking is distributed between actions that require interventions and those that do not. Traffic stops will decrease, but tickets issued by surveillance cameras will increase. Surveillance will request intervention, the legal department will be brought in to advise, and the police will be in direct communication and taking orders from superiors utilizing military style "battlefield awareness" technology.

pretty much every thing police in the future will do will be deemed "legal" and the individual officers actions (as per his orders) will be no responsibility of his own.

It's pretty much how things like foreign drone strikes and even tactical things like just calling in air support to take out some targets, it's all cleared by legal oversite and declared a legal action before anything is done. This doesn't entirely eliminate mistakes or even make everything legal (lawyers can interpret things badly too) but it puts much more oversite on the officers and lets them make fewer "judgement calls."

so in the future you can probably expect to "deal with the police less" but if you do have to deal with them then it'll be a shit show for you.
also expect way more surveillance and a lot less flexibility when it comes to defending yourself in court. At the moment not every moment of an arrest is filmed from 30 angles.

that's of course my opinion, but anecdotally i have friends who fought in iraq that claim to owe their lives to drones and they are now floating over to law enforcement stuff. If they could get 5 predator drones flying over dallas they could watch everything in the metroplex. couple that with top down command structure and a fully integrated communication network and "feet on the ground" and basically treat it like a hotzone then there would probably be much less room for mistakes. especially if you're mostly handing off traffic tickets to an automated system and not relying on "routine traffic stops" to probe around the community and root out arrests. but that does just mean that if you DO have to deal with the cops it'll be just that much worse.

I'm not sure what people expect the police to be, they aren't just going to run around giving people suggestions and asking them nicely to comply.

if anything they are just going to militarize more and at the same time build legal justification by micromanaging. just like the army.

nope. everything will still go to court, but a lawyer will basically be present during all police actions to advise on the legalities. to advise basically the police dept on how to proceed in a much more micromanaged fashion than exists currently for civilian police. the military already does this, to make sure if it were to go to court it would have extra layers of checks against having made mistakes or bad judgement calls. there would still be scrutiny and a need for courts, but if you get shot it's probably because the lawyers had given the go-ahead that the use of deadly force would be justified in court.

but again, first things first. complete and total surveillance state. it's coming.

See, the thing is, cops are doing just fine. You're a danger to yourself when you resist arrest not just because they will take measures to subdue you, but because you are no longer in full control of your body. You wrestle the wrong way and trip over someone/thing, that's 200lbs of dead weight headed straight for the pavement, and you have no free hands to catch yourself.

1) Don't break the law
2) Cooperate with police
3) Don't give them on-the-spot reasons to arrest you like taking a swing at them or bolting
4) If you follow those steps and they do mistreat you, you can take them to court later because you're still alive

Exactly.

If black people started acting like normal human beings and less like uncontrollable rabid dogs there would be less dead dogs on the streets.

Either way it's a win-win for us white folk.
