I have the Gear 2 Neo and it's great.

Telling time. It has bluetooth so I can make hands-free calls which is very useful while driving, especially because I can see who's calling without looking at my phone. It allow me to view text messages which is useful while driving and while at work and I can send preset responses. I can control media (volume, pause/play, next track, etc). It has a universal remote to control my TV, very useful when I'm using my Google Chrome which I also control through the media controller. It lets me see facebook notifications. It displays weather, so I can see temperature and location just by looking at my wrist. It has a basic GPS navigation program, which is very useful if I'm walking and don't want to be walking around with my phone in hand. It has a flashlight app that lights up the screen. It has a device location feature that sets off an alarm on my phone and visa versa to help me find either one if either is misplaced. I can view call logs and contacts. It allows me to control the WiFi, GPS, vibration, and mobile data settings of my phone. It has a timer, a stopwatch, a sleep monitor, a pedometer and heart rate monitor that communicates with S-Health on my phone. It has S-Voice and Voice Memo features. It has a lot of other apps that I don't really use but others may find useful. Basically any minor feature where I don't want to bother with taking my phone out of my pocket and unlocking it, my watch handles.

It is water resistant. I can wash my hands and get it soaking wet with no issues. I have not tried swimming with it. It has never been dropped because it stays on my wrist.

I paid $199 for mine btw. You can now get one for $168. The Neo lacks a camera but is about $100 cheaper, but that's a feature I wouldn't really use. Taking pictures is something I'd rather take the phone out for.
time.com for an article about watches?
@OP knows what they are doing.
