Topic: what is going on in the US that underage girls are parading their whorishness in street marches
Anonymous A started this discussion 11 years ago#41,373
And these whore parades are supposed to be in support against rape? It makes no sense? Or are they saying that there's no reason to rape them since they'll just blow you right there in the street, no problem?

There was a case in Canada where a woman was raped and the police chief said to the press that the man raped her because he was provoked by her sexy clothing and urged women to dress modestly in order to prevent a similar situation, and this caused a backlash and a protest to this was arranged which was called "Slut Walk", and the point of it is that they are saying that they should be allowed to wear as slutty and revealing clothes as they like without having to feel frightened that they're going to be raped by some asshole, and that people are going to say it's their own fault and they got what was coming to them. The idea caught on internationally and now many people do it in all sorts of countries.

Shit, I thought that Canada was a more progressive country? That's not good to hear.
Anyway, I agree with the sentiment behind the walks. Freedom is more important than bizzare attempts to appease rapists.

because people "justify" sexual assault by blaming it on the victim's clothing
so it's people marching with the sentiment that an outfit is not consent and not "asking for it"

Do some people actually find slutty clothes attractive? I mean, if you're wearing a corset and garterbelt, yeah that's kinky as hell, but you wouldn't do it in public. The "slutty" outfits that people wear in public just make them look like cheap sluts with gonorrhea who'll settle for an abusive asshole and die in a meth lab explosion.

Because it does nothing. It doesnt decrease rapes, and it doesnt stop people from blaiming rape victims. Its an excuse to have a fun time, in revealing clothing.

...Or perhaps they're aware of the stated and publicised aims of the event, and have joined because they support those goals? It's not too unusual for people to attend events whilst knowing what the event is about.
You seem very unwilling to accept that they're anything other than ditzy girls who are largely out to have fun. Do you not think that they can be serious about this?

It's about raising awareness, m8, as I said. And dressing that way helps with that, as people will be more inclined to look into why they're doing it, and learn about this issue.

But people will not change their views on this subject, because the are not offering rational arguments, and all anyone will think about is their tits. So there is no point.

You know that idiots not locking their doors to protect themselves from thievery is the original message to the sluts right? Don't be foolish, the world is not a safe place.
Telling people to not steal and rape and kill hasn't worked so far in human history, maybe these sluts can change that, idk

"Tell men not to rape" is rhetoric which is meant to signify that the blame for a rape lies at the hands of the rapist, it's not literally espousing the point of view that someone should go up to men and tell them to be good.

That takes all the responsibility for self preservation away from sluts though. Teach sluts to keep themselves safe is important too. That's what got them so mad. "don't tell me to not be drunk, scantily clad, and alone in a park at night"
surprise, you got raped by a rapist looking for an easy target.
Better tell the non rapists to not rape. The rapists are too busy looking for more sluts.

It's like telling kids not to talk to strangers. We try telling strangers that kidnapping and molestation is wrong, but what good is that? Telling people who follow the rules that they should follow the rules is redundant. Tell a criminal and you might as well be having peace talks with a pack of wolves.
