They have this vague idea that their dogs are discriminated against. It makes them really angry. But it isn't enough to make them actually, like, train their dogs. Instead, they just whine about "breed bias" while their dogs maul the neighbor children.

what? that's bullshit. Pitbulls are perfectly fine, but dogs in general ALL need proper socialization and training. Pits are sweet dogs, but like any dog that weighs more than 30 lbs it can kill a human. I used to foster dogs and my favorites were the pit bulls because by the time they got to me they'd generally been pretty neglected and pits ADORE affection and interaction and were the most "thankful" to just hangout and be with people.
but, like any dog, there are laws and rules associated with keeping them. You're required to provide them with an enclosed yard OR you're required to supervise them and keep them on a leash at all times when in public. it's when you don't follow the rules, follow the laws, and follow good training and socialization that you have a problem. unfortunately the Pit Bull is the breed of choice of lazy worthless fucks who are too stupid to train dogs period to own anything over 15lbs.
IMHO people should have to register dogs by weight, and should have to have either permits or take training classes themselves in order to own dogs in heavier weight classes. a pitbull can hit 80lbs, and an improperly trained or housed 80lbs dog can be lethal (regardless of the breed.) but these days any retard with the desire to do so can chain up an 80lb+ dog in their backyard and do nothing but throw it meat and antagonize it until it kills a child.
it IS all about how you raise, train, and supervise a dog that determines its behavior. blame the people not the dog.

i dislike little dogs. they tend to be ill-trained and lack any kind of dog-manners. they're also the most likely to draw blood and not discriminate between adults and children. i refused to foster a dog under 30lbs back when i did that. they are shit and piss factories and they have nasty health problems and are untrainable little shits once they get beyond a few years.

I had a pitbull and she was one of the sweetest dogs I owned. While I agree they should train their dog, no matter the breed... Pitbulls and other dogs like the Doberman Pinscher, Rottweiler, and many others are looked at like violent dogs. I have known very vicious Poodles, Chihuahuas and Pomeranians. It's all how they are raised.

See, I just don't buy that. There are different dog breeds for a reason. Pit bulls are the result of selectively breeding a dog suitable for blood sport. They have different personality traits than sheepdogs and retrievers. I don't think they're "bad" because they attack more than other dogs, in fact they are just doing what we fucking bred them to do. I do think they're incredibly unsuitable as pets.
It's a lot more than just size. They attack far more often and with worse results than other dogs. And it is also true that retards are more likely to pick a pit bull as a pet than non-retards, which probably makes it worse.

also it's unfair to blame so many attacks on pit bulls when so many mixed breed dogs are regularly confused for pit bulls. It's hard for even some experts to agree on if a dog is a pit bull. Sorta like a Labradoodle which has too many overgeneralized features to be identified as such. a boxy head and stocky body does not a proper pit bull make, so i wonder how loaded the stats are with mixed breed dogs. rottweiler/pitt bull mixes still look like pitbulls.
i'm still sticking with it being a popular breed in areas that tend to raise dangerous dogs regardless of breed. If it wasn't pit bulls, it'd be mean ass mastiffs.
i think a geographic look by plotting the locations of the most viscous dog attacks would be more telling.

Some breeds are naturally more aggressive than others. I don't know if pitbulls are the most aggressive breeds, but they are surely the most popular aggressive breeds. These dogs need a more competent leadership than hoodrats or some faggot compensating for something.

and if you really want to know why people keep mean dogs it's literally just to keep people off their property. In dallas Atmos gas company has right-of-way to all meters in the city and the law states that any home with a meter in the back yard must allow Atmos employees free access across their property and onto the bit that Atmos has a right to access. In the "ghetto" it is most common that meters are mounted on the property, usually placed on the house itself (rather than in the alleyway as in more affluent areas.) disconnects for non-payment are highly common, and about the only way you can keep the gas man out of your yard and from disconnecting your gas is to have a large, aggressive dog in your yard that causes the Gas man to Flag the house as "dangerous entry." efforts are made to contact the customer directly and the gas is certainly not shut off because the next step is to have animal control come out to assist but that literally never happens. it apparently costs less to just let the gas use go, but, there are other tactics that can be used.
i've heard of Gas men from the, like, "dangerous entry" team, do stuff like
-break a fence to let the dog out. Turn off the gas.
-$5 worth of dark chocolate over the fence. The next day turn off the gas. (dead dog)
-Hit it with a wrench. Turn off the gas.
Of course none of those things go on a report, ever, but bolt cutting a lock on a gate and letting a dog run free is certainly not beyond the call of duty for some of these guys working on disconnects.
but the point is the dogs ARE purpose kept, and they are trained to be mean. currently in downtown dallas the big problem is with Mastiffs. Pit bulls are small enough that animal control can wrangle them down easier and in some houses you can climb the fence, get on the roof, and shut the meter off by hanging off the roof, but mastiff can knock over wooden fences so you're lucky if you get 2 guys that far and even if you did they are big enough they can reach you dangling over the edge of the roof. Get a couple of big ass mastiffs and you'll never be without gas again.

Trained professionals have pet lions, tigers, bears, cheetahs, and so on. They are tame and nice.
