The red ring can signify a whole host of hardware issues. Overheating is a common one, so unless there was a reason for it to be extraordinarily warm recently there is a chance it will be fucked.

My tv was on my xbox and I banged it when my disc tray got jammed. Could this have caused a hardware problem.

My Xbox is 6 years old. How long are these things supposed to last?

the xbox one has been out for a while, so... now?
seriously though it depends on the year it was manufactured and the model. all i know is that the early gen ones were prone to breakage, but newer ones were better.
