It's kind of like kit cars. They have these kits where if you have a Mazda Miata you can make it look like a BMW Z3 by gluing on the right badges and changing a few body panels. They'll never pass close inspection (or fool anyone really knowledgeable about cars) but will enable your Mazda to "pass" as a BMW 90% of the time (in the old days they had the same thing where you could make a Pontiac Fiero into a very convincing Ferrari). But you'll never be able to make a Chevy Suburban "pass" as a BMW Z3.
