Topic: Does anyone use the Lenovo Yoga etc. flippable screen laptops?

Anonymous A started this discussion 11 years ago #41,213

How are they? Is the flipping thing just a gimmick, or do you find it useful in everyday use? Are they powerful? Any reviews would be appreciated.

friend in collage had one, he always used it as a regular laptop and nearly never flipped into tablet mode. it can be useful if you're passing around your device a lot to show people things or want to stab at things on the couch

i think he had the surface

I see. Do you know if the Yoga is touch screen? It might be useful that way to hand write stuff. Otherwise, I wonder if the Yoga is powerful?

I had a Microsoft Surface Pro 2 (deatachable keyboard), Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro and Asus Taichi (it has 2 screens on the screen lid... normal inside, touchscreen outside that you can use when the laptop is closed).

From all that I like the Surface the most since it's both, a powerfull laptop when you attach the keyboard, and an awesome tablet when the keyboard is deatached...

On the Yoga, I never flipped it to use it as a tablet, never had the need to...

The Asus Taichi was the most gimmicky of them all, fucking lol, 2 displays. But I loved that thing so much and I want it again. Used it so much, both as a table and laptop.

So the Surface Pro is powerful? What is the graphics card?

Intel HD 4200/4400/5000 depending on the processor you pick (i3/i5/i7). Don't expect that you'll game on ultra details.
It's powerful compared to what the competition offers in that segment, and not powerful compared to gaming rigs.

I see. I might just get a traditional laptop with a discrete graphics card.

I'm going to be getting my friend's old eeepc which has a flippable stylus screen. It's small, and about 4 or 5 years old, but it's pretty good in my opinion. I specifically want it so I can draw with a regular pen, digitally.

A regular pen? Very cool.

Well, the rounded clicker end of a Papermate Profile. The stylus it comes with is way too thin to hold like a proper drawing utensil.
