Couple or 3 problems with this topic. When was the last time anyone here ate Chia seeds? The outbreak is old news from almost a full year ago. The plant grows all over California and is reported to be a popular food item. Seeds turn quickly to a gummy like goop in mouth. Considered very healthy. I shop once a week in a huge Mexican market and they sell HUGE Bags of the seeds - I will research exactly what the Mexicans are using these for.

In Canada, two strains of Salmonella have been identified associated with this outbreak: Salmonella Newport and Salmonella Hartford. In total, 24 cases have been reported in Ontario (15), British Columbia (6), Alberta (1) and Quebec (2).

Based on this short cut from Slate.com - You and I no matter where we live in USA - We best move to Canada where they have lots of water and grow their own for the most part? Not so much so sure about wot they grow but hey u and I can set up our own green houses for survival.

My 9 year old wants to visit Disney Land but we have concerns over the general hygiene in California when it comes to food. I heard salmonella is a major concern as well as Cryptosporidium and Giardia, Gram Negative Bacteria, Hepatitis A, Leptospirosis and Tenanus. What are your thoughts on this?

My friend, I think we're getting side tracked. I'm not trying to score points or create a Spain Vs California thing going on. I just want to go on vacation and not catch gut rot. It's basiclly a toss up between California and Thailand and we can't work out which is safer hygyene wise.

If I were YOU I wood choose Thailand - Y? Its so very different and exotic - Has Jungles and exotic creatures which frankly only get poorly simulated at Disneyland.
World class Thai food - Exotic vs what Spain tried to convert Calif to when they took over this place and held on so long to it.

i went to california for 3 weeks and ate out at restaurants multiple times every single day and i didnt get sick or catch disease
disneyland is very clean to a fault, they are strict on their image and salmonella outbreaks are bad for image
oh also pay more for the vip tickets and the guided tour because seriously i felt sorry for the plebs waiting in line, they probably only got to go on one ride all day

One should not forget that even Disneyland can lead to measles. Back in Feb a single visitor from no one no's where, spread that nasty stuff to employees who ended up infecting all of USA eventually.
