Why do you think paid vacation is a human right? Why do you think one of the roles of government is to coerce companies to give employees not just time off but paid time off?
There are no federal laws saying employers must give employees paid time off in the United States, and yet I have never had a job that did not give me paid vacation. They do it voluntarily because better benefits attract better employees. If a company does not give vacation and an employee takes that job voluntarily, I don't have a problem with that.

We need to be careful here. You live in a country that has 3rd world laws with regard to free speech.
So for accuracy we are talking about a multi-national business: I provided copypast of benefits rite off McD's corporate web site. One cannot argue about the subject to availability rule because McD's refuses to provide any information about how many are eligible. What I can show you is this statement:
In July, the fast food giant told workers to make ends meet by getting a second job and turning off the heat. Last month, a McResource Line representative told one worker she should sign up for food stamps and Medicaid to help pay her bills.
This is a caring company much like WalMart which provides employees with forms so they can apply for USA Federal welfare benefits.
In general USA has followed the principles of Great Britain, in business matters based on history. We learned early on how to dump Tea in salt water to prove to the King of England, we new what we were doing.

3: It can take 5 years of service to go from 10 days to 15 vacation days (changing jobs may mean you have to start over with 10 days again).
From personal memories. My first real job in Aerospace was Hughes and if memory is correct the first year offered One Week full pay for vacation and I think at 5 years it was 3 weeks.

Huge number of Americans with paid Vacation - Do NOT use it. Back as a captive employee at Qualcomm I never took a day off with paid vacation. When I left there was one hell of a check for all the time but there are companies that do not pay if its not used (I think!)

i am an american worker, can also confirm that we do, in fact, get paid vacation, some jobs have a requirement that you actually take a minimum of 1 week vacation per however many months you work

i get a paid vacation every year. usually 7 - 10 days. i think what OP is referring to is that there is no legally required minimum vacation time as part of employee protection, such as minimum wage workers. What OP might not understand is that minimums are pretty much for part-time employees and no one pays their part time employee vacation time. If you're a salaried employee then you'll get all of the standard stuff more professional jobs offer (such as retirement benefits, medical and vacation time) but part time and unskilled workers aren't getting the benefits better trained and more valuable employees demand.
I could fire/hire unskilled labor all day, there's no incentive to give them perks, but like managers and skilled labor i would have a harder time replacing and thus get more benefits to keep them around.
in other words people aren't entitled to vacation time be default. And that's also not saying unskilled laborers can't take a vacation. i'm just not paying them for it. That kind of thing is for skilled workers. if you want paid vacation time, then get trained in more skilled forms of labor.
