I haven't drank in a week. I've been meaning to get drunk, but haven't.

I think that is good, although the article makes me question everything.

The article still says that "frequent, heavy binge drinking is unhealthy", though. I feel that this is important to keep in mind.

True. What is frequent, heavy binge drinking, I wonder? How many drinks?

I agree, it could be hard to pin down in light of this apparent evidence. And what constitutes excessive drinking probably varies between people.
I suppoose the best way would be to take some "common sense" approach to it. I think most people would have a fairly good feeling for what constitutes an excessive amount, if they thought about it.

Maybe. I drink at least a bottle of red wine a day, and I feel it is appropriate.

I posted something similar to this in the last "Green's alcoholism" thread.
The fact of the matter is, quitting altogether is NOT good for you and lots of scientific data to back that up. If you have a serious addiction, then you need to learn to cut back and spread out your drinking.
Addiction-phobia is a bigger problem than real addiction. People who drink healthy, moderate amounts of alcohol are shunned and it's fucking stupid. I can't stand people who have a Puritan attitude when it comes to anything.
