I looked up first known use and apparently evidence predates written history - Its found in the bible and "The first theoretical calculation of a value of pi was that of Archimedes of Syracuse (287-212 BCE)"
So perhaps even caveman when they were chopping up rocks to make wheels as found in Flitstones comics - Pi may have far predated any calendar

Bottom line is 3 14 15 is a phenomenon of a number. I have been designing a lot of electronic filters for a ground based cell thing of the future which is in various states of beta testing and Pi has become a daily nifty item I use a bunch
