Topic: I have a bit of a dilemma, guys.

So, there is something on my mind that has been paining me for quite a while. I feel that if I can't be honest with the people in my life that I truly love, that I am a liar. If there is one thing in my life that I hate more than anything, it's people who lie to others and more importantly, to themselves.
When I was younger, in my late teens, I was often lied to by my parents. Every year, they would go on a vacation for two weeks and never once did they take me with them. They would come up with tons of excuses for reasons as to why I could never come along with them. "We simply need some time to ourselves", "you need to learn how to manage on your own every now and again", "the pets can't be left alone" (even when we had a lot of family members who could watch them for us) and on and on and on. While going through their room in search for something I can't recall right now, I came across a box full of tickets. My parents always liked to save things like these, I guess as keepsakes in a sense. There were tickets for concerts we had attended, football games, baseball games, etcetera etcetera. And then I stumbled across something seemingly normal, but after looking a bit more closely, I was fucking shocked. Each year, for their two week vacation, I was under the impression that they were going on regular cruises. This was still somewhat true, but they had been hiding something from me. The title of the cruise was something along the lines of "Romantic cruise voyage". This didn't exactly startle me much at first glance, but after doing more research on this particular cruise they had gone on, I realized that its main focus was on widening ones "sexual horizons by way of polygamy". Anyway, I do feel somewhat strange telling you all about this, but hopefully you can understand why it made me feel betrayed. Sex never was, and still is not something that is ever discussed between my parents and I, even though we are very close. When I brought up the subject, they were quick to punish me for snooping through their things (which I really wasn't), and they denied absolutely everything. I always wished that they would be more open with me about things like this, but it never quite happened. I really wish that they could have just been honest with me about the whole thing, because the fact that they never invited me along made me feel as if I was unwanted, and not to mention that they lied directly to my face, even when they had clearly been caught red handed. If they had just told me the truth, I would have understood. Hell, they could have even sugarcoated it quite a bit, but no. That's literally just one of the many things that I've been lied to about in my life, and nothing in this world seems to bother me as much as not being told the truth.
I try my best to never tell lies, even if they're small ones. With that said, I need some advice here. There is something that I've been meaning to tell my close friends and family for a long time now, but I never had the courage to do so because of how I was brought up, and what I was taught. Homosexuality was never something that was acceptable to the people close to me in my life, and in a way, I was the same way for many years. I never said anything to my friends when they made malicious jokes about gay people, and the majority of the time I even played along. Why did I do this? I'm really not sure. Maybe because I've always been the type to follow along, rather than pave the way, which is something I'm trying to work on.
Not until very recently did I accept the intense sexual emotions I feel around other women, and it honestly wasn't easy. I still am interested in men, but moreso women. It has always been that way for me, I just always thought it would go away, or that it was a phase. But now, I feel like I'm comfortable enough with myself to admit this thing to my parents and best friends. I'm unsure of how and when I should approach the subject. I've been told that there really never is a "right" time, but I would hate to bring the matter up on an inappropriate ocassion. My parents will be holding a dinner of sorts in a week or so, and I've been thinking that this might be the perfect time. My best friends will be attending as well, as always. The thing that I think might be most difficult for me is that not only am I interested in women, but it's mostly younger women that I feel most attracted to. Their age range being 14-18. I'm not quite sure if I should bring this up quite yet, if it all, but I also do not want to consider myself a liar--which is what I hate most in life. Any advice???
