While growth seems exponential, the population is balanced by other forces. You would be forgiven for thinking that kind of number is reachable but as a population grows, so does society, and for some reason this keeps us from reproducing like a virus.
Japan always seemed 10 years ahead and perhaps it still is as their population has started decreasing recently.

No we tried that and it made things worse.
The way I see it, is that things will unfold as they will unfold and all we can do is take an active interest in the patterns resulting from a system beyond our understanding.
