Topic: Squeegee, why do Texans tend to look down on Californians?

Anonymous A started this discussion 11 years ago #40,369

Is California really that much of a failure as a state?

You do reside in Texas, yes?

yes, of course i live in Texas, that's a ridiculous question.
And Texans look down on californians for being hippy liberal douchbag draft dodgers with absurd taxes and hollywood.

are you a cowboy hat-wearing, pickup truck-driving, steak-eating, god-fearing, freedom-loving, gun-owning, real Texan?

Isn't Texas slowly becoming a blue state though?

Texas and California have a few things in common.

We both were once a Spanish - Mexican owned/run state.

In California Latinos are just a few percent points behind whites and Latinos will take the lead soon because Whites have not so much children and Latinos are fruitful and multiply.

I did a quick look at demographics of Texas. Texan Whites are not so much so fruitful in terms of multiplying nor does it seem their attitude towards abortion is actually adding anything to the white population

Whites

2000 (total population) 84.54%
2005 (total population) 84.14%
2010 (total population) 70.4% Yea this needs a double check and perhaps I will leave that to a Texan to check

2000 (Hispanic only) 31.14%
2005 (Hispanic only) 34.16%
2010 (Hispanic only) 37.6%

Asked Wiki for Demographics of Texas and California

Bottom line is - squeegee and postmortem had best become fruitful and multiple or soon they will find Texas returning to Mexico much in the same way as California is

From 2000 to 2010 the white population got 15% smaller while the latins only grew 6%. Assuming you are not talking out of your ass, it's someone other than latins that are filling the void left by white people

This is where I pulled the info from
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Texas

And looking at the projected bottom line

Demographic trends
According to Steve Murdock, a demographer with the Hobby Center for the Study of Texas at Rice University and a former director of the U.S. Census Bureau, the White American population is aging, while minority populations remain relatively young. As of 2011, according to Murdock,

two out of three children in Texas are not non-Hispanic Whites. Murdock also predicted that, between 2000 and 2040 (assuming that the net migration rate will equal half that of 1990-2000), Hispanic public school enrollment will increase by 213 percent,

while non-Hispanic white enrollment will decrease by 15 percent.

Asians are about 14% of the population in california, about twice as much as blacks.

I believe there are more Latin Americans coming over from Central America than from mexico now. I've met many that are also black Latin, it be interesting to see if their children will identify as black or Hispanic. At least as far as the census is concerned.

Not sure how these numbers end up on this link
20% of Beverley Hills population is from Iran -
California alone is home to over 100,000 Azerbaijani Americans
150,000 Indonesians live in Southern California
150,000 residents with Pacific Islander ancestry. Most, 80,000, are Native Hawaiians
California has the largest Indian American population in the U.S 352,427
Thai American community of over 250,000

and the list goes on and on

Its up to whoever fills out the census re do they mark selves as Black or Latino.

California is the worst state. I don't know why anyone would choose to live there.

I cannot think of any States without issues. So Cal basically has one season. We did get some rain yesterday and now forecast is again 70's for rest of the week.

This is a shot taken 10 minutes South of me - Mormon temple to snow in Mountains east of me. So one can find snow to play in if need be

Great weather and really good authentic reastaurants from every part of the world. The fact that you could be playing in the snow up in Big Bear and within an hour or so be walking on the beach, or riding your ATV in the desert. It's also the wealthiest state in the union and now has budget surplus. But I guess some may see it as the worst state in the union.

This is possible, but never via the 91... Not even with FasTrak.

Is true of San Francisco and Los Angeles - Not true of San Diego area. Might be one hole in the wall Russian. Chinese Vietnamese Japanese Korean community is well represented - So markets and restaurants are all over the place. Its still so much Mexican with a splash of Central and South American available.

One of my most fav memories and this goes back to when I lived in Santa Monica. Friends decided to drive out early am to Palm Springs - take the tram up the mountain to ski in fresh powder - Then someone said hey there is time to drive back down to Huntington beach to finish the day surfing - It was a most perfect day of Ocean to desert to snow on top and back down to Ocean to surf.

I think IF I were to live in the city of Oakland or Bakersfield or where Cathy lives which is a sad part of the state - or one of those towns along Hwy 99 in the summer - Places that have value in being closer to Sierra Nevadas and that is about IT
