It sure does, but think of all of the semi-skeptics who would like to know more about this "organization". Clue after clue an obsession grows, until they are seen as worthy recruits to join their secret club or give up out of some random circumstance.
You see it as a stupid idea, like leaving breadcrumbs while running from the police.
I see it as a way to find people who have all of the right qualities for such an organization: curiosity, cleverness, and open-mindedness.
