Is OP supposed to be Matt astroturfing himself, or he is some other freak?

Most likely some random person trying to instigate more matt/syntax drama.

why not just ban both of them? it would save so much hassle, nip it in the bud and it wouldn't even be a thing

Matt miller is incapable of being anyone other than matt miller (a given), and syntax is uncapable of talking about anything other than fatfuck and their dumb sewers

its bad enough that it happens on tc (though it cant be saved) and minichan is the only bbs out of all of them (besides scatchan now i guess??) that has capable moderation, even if its only a little bit, and the whole thing is so tired at this point that its a chore to go through any of it, every thread that either of them post in end up being the same thread pretty much every time (which is, people talking about matt/long ass syntax post about how rich he is/what he is doing for dinner/qualcomm bullshit/DA CLONES!!!) and its been going on for years and years, its all so predictable and stupid now but unfortunately will also never stop

edit: i mistakenly referred to sc having "capable moderation" when this isn't in fact the case, what i should have said was "has moderation" even though josh just bans everyone for little or no reason

Syntax mostly posts about other subjects, at least lately. Mostly because I've told him he'd be banned if he wouldn't, but yeah. I agree they're both tiresome, but permanently banning them both seems too much. If any of them go, Syntax will likely go first since he's more of the derailing type.

Just ban them from using schtick.

r04r replied with this 11 years ago, 1 minute later, 12 hours after the original post[^] [v] #533,136

@533,133 (E)
To clarify on why I think it's too much: They don't really break any rules, they do as they're told when warned, and they both spend a significant amount of time posting here. It would be banning people because a vocal group of users does not like them. Even though I am part of that group, it still feels wrong.

Easier said than done. What is classified as shtick? Do I now have to read all of their posts and make a judgement call?

If Syntax doesn't use proper spelling, it's schtick. If Matt uses the word "fora", it's schtick.

That's just part of their persona, which really isn't bad at all. It's just when they're actively attacking each other that seems to upset everyone.

> from this point either of them will be banned once they're seen derailing threads, excessively schticky, etc
> banned once they're seen

This implies there will actually be follow through. I have reported many topics and replies, plus I have seen various topics locked. Why do they constantly get warnings, rather than follow through on a promise to ban?

This threat has not seen follow through.

> He did seem sincere

MAtt truly has been socialized into lying and manipulating others to believe what he wants. MAtt does not sincerely feel remorse, understand that he offends and irritates others, or that his behaviors are socially unacceptable. I'd even call him a sociopath.

Also,

@533,180 (L)

> > daily meal threads
Daily is an exaggeration, at least for MC. I'm also under the impression the two or three times after his first thread (in recent months) they got locked and he's told to KITOTP. I'm hesitant to see this as a grave offense because if anyone else were to make these threads it'd likely be considered nice/friendly. :s

> > inane threads about what he is going to cook
Agree for the most case, but again if anyone else were to do it it'd be fine. We've had similar threads by others before, like gardening updates.

> > repetitive threads about how life is so grand in China and the west sucks
no argument here

> > repetitive polls asking for your age, employment, and status in life
also no argument here

The problem is these things make up less than 10% of what he currently posts. If I started banning people for <10% of what they post we'd have almost no users left. Nearly everyone here annoys other people in one way or another. So I'm still quite unsure. Note that I don't actually like either of them. It just all feels so hypocritical by people who built up this hate over the years while most of it is not that relevant anymore.
