Did a cheek swab test directly through the Delaware court to make it legally binding. The test results arrived yesterday and said there is a 0% chance I am the father. So, apparently the non-invasive prenatal paternity test done by the DDC is either a complete scam or they grossly mishandled the blood samples.
Anyway, I'm not the father and the other guy and I are seriously considering suing the DDC.

he should be super relieved this was caught. It's totally possible for a non-paternal "father" to get himself on paper and wind up paying child-support while the real father gets off scott free. You can totally end up paying for someone else's kid and never even have the rights a paternal father does.

So just sharing a personal experience I have re possible regrets. A gal friend from High School days one year ahead of me - Was NOT close to her - Super attractive and super NICE to me.
One day and I am still in school working at a Supermarket doing some check out but mostly stocking shelves - She starts to show up on regular non shopping bases with new baby in her arms.
I developed quick deep feelings for Mother and Child and could have become the dad very quickly - I had to make a decision that timing re school and future - it was just to tempting for me and to soon so I asked for new working hours to avoid running into her and that was that.
You stood up and was willing to be the dad and help support so I am sure you have mixed feelings even though you are totally free to just walk away.
Just saying that I do have regrets. Because she was SO NICE in so many ways.

It's OK. I wasn't really attached to the child yet. Kim was being such a bitch that I could count the time spent with the child in hours instead of days. Now that I know it's not mine, it's easy to let go and be happy to be free of Kim and all her bullshit.

Not only are they not mandatory, the hospital I was at didn't even have it available. They told me that if I didn't sign the acknowledgement of paternity right then and there, I had to file for paternity adjudication through the state court, have them do the test at the court house as that is the only legally recognized test, and then if the results come back positive I can get on the birth certificate and get custody and visitation rights. That took three months. I agree with you completely. It should be mandatory. All it takes is a cheek swab and it solves many problems. If not mandatory, at least make it standard so the hospitals offer it right then and there.

I'm certain because the first test is questionable at best, shady or a downright scam at worst. The first one involved extracting fetal DNA from the mother's blood. The second one was a cheek swap from the baby after it was born. The first one involved both alleged fathers, so there's the potential for mix up. The second test only involved me, mother, and child, so no potential for mix up. The second test was done directly through the state court, at the courthouse, under supervision and is legally binding. Even if I didn't believe the second one was more accurate, the court says it is conclusive and legally binding. So that's that. It's not like we picked up two tests from a drug store and decided to wing it.

you should be happy, same shit happened to a friend of mine last year, he was so incredibly happy that he wasn't the father because the girl he was in a relationship at the time with was completely fucking insane, and in his words- "the greatest day of my life because i dont even have to dedicate a thought to her anymore" though he was fully prepared to fight for custody, he would have been a much better parent in the first place tbh.
