People of English descent in South Africa have kind of socially melded with the other white settlers (the Afrikaners of dutch origin)...so their accent and vocabulary have been influenced more by that than anything else.

Mm the inflection and pronunciation are entirely different...and depending on the level of dutch influence it can sound kind of guttural.
