I say this having been very close to committing suicide myself. Every justification I had was bullshit.
1: My personal interaction with a few who I knew which was 99% from work - Suicides - just 3 over a very long life span.
No one had a clue they were depressed - ''Except I will always blame myself for not sitting down a guy I hired for more discussions about what looked depressed 2 me but I as a manager at the time was ill equipped to no how to go about it.
Also on his application he said he was Single - after death we discover he was married and living with wife at time of death.
So and yes this is 2nd hand as I never met the guy. I had an ex GF - Terrific Gal - She is famous in the Animation biz as an Agent to those in Animation - She told me about an Ex BF - Short term relationship.
She said he was a super nice guy who could not please a woman sexually (only in his mind) because!
He could never find a woman he could fit his penis into. A few even on first look just walked out of bedroom and out of his life instantly.
NOW this was just b4 the Internet and net porn So I was clueless re woman and Champagne bottles or other large objects.
Yes its my fault for NOT asking my GF for more details but growing UP it was just not in my lexicon to discuss some other dudes penis with any girl in detail - A few wood say they had issues with some ex which was to small - One who even said no to a marriage proposal but of course never told the guy why.
I did ask her for details re depression and she said no way Other then It was not really an issue for her because she liked the guy a lot and felt happy with other stuff he wood do but he was not happy about that one thing because it became the Focus and he kept looking for that one girl he could please -

Until you posted about your experience I had no clue - Nor can anyone get inside anyones head when it comes to how they feel about ending their own lives.
At least the guy did not do what one of our USA Serial killers did. Get so angry re woman not given him the time of the day and then deciding to go and kill as many people as possible over his rage.

Similar to the time I first decided to try my first Black run on a ski slope. Worst case you fall and perhaps a bit bloody.
So as with many lessons I have learned - thinking about it to much just gets in the way of doing it.
And even the same when I was first learning to Swing Dance - after all that is a situation where one is asking many new gals you do not even no name of for a dance - Came slow until that moment as I stepped forward SHE reached out and stood up and came forward b4 I could even say wood you like to dance - Again from that moment it changed my attitude to cannot fail

I have to convince Mathworks/Mathlabs to kick up wot they offer - over the years they keep offering more power for equations yet even in today's enviro people need and work with 9 n 20th order functions re parasitic elements.
Current problem handed to me is a Spectrum of RF interference that is jamming a receiver and standard quick solution is to add a filter to keep the crap out - Or ask the offender to just move but offender happens to be the same company and its a profit center so they are not about to change channels -
Mathworks just does not have the power I need and I used to do this kind of filter design all the time but alas its been a bunch of years so I find its just Yikes mean to do -
24 Equations and I no its going to be try try try again and fail and why is it I end up with the correct useful equation towards the very end. At least I do not have to bread board the filter - a lab will do that for me and test it to be sure it matches the math -
I shoud say grrrrrr but I also come from the days of Slide Rule as power tool - back then you design build and then hand trim the parts to cheat and cheating is still done but clients also demand math proof of soloution as reproducible when manufactured -
