I don't know what is involved in cloning so the following is opinion, rather than fact.
I don't think it will ever be possible, but in the same way that people didn't think it was possible to go to the moon -- it feels like something that humans are not meant to be able to do! Surely there will be forces at play making it an impossibility, such as the
Van Halen radiation belt.
Whenever there is an advancement such as this it becomes more and more difficult to stomach the complexity of modern technology but when you look at it another way, the average skill of a single person is declining rapidly over time, and most or all of human technological advancements are simply more efficient use of electricity, and energy.
No, the nature of nature seems too complex from our brute force approach to advancement, but if we
do get a handle on the problem, it will be a confusing time for people who like to have a handle on things.

Try to remember that space is actually three dimensional. The Van Allen belts only make travel to the Moon impossible if you're an idiot and you try to go straight through them. The manned missions actually went over the top on the way out, and passed under them on the way back (which is part of the reason why they launched from Florida and splashed down in the southern hemisphere).

Does this belt feature in Kerbal Space Program? I wonder if Lagrange points also feature, as I find them vaguely fascinating, despite not really understanding them.
