Don't you think you just lacked the empathy to know how you made them feel? Inside their precious feelings?

Surprisingly not. I got called fat a lot, and got mocked for smelling like cigarettes. Also the guys in history class used to pretend I was an alcoholic.

you were board and so you naturally turned to tormenting kids? I think you are being to harsh on yourself, or just flat out denying the real possible causes.

You underestimate how much fun bullying can be. It's a good pastime.

Yeah it is. For people with some problems in their homes.

Yes, a bit.
If I crossed paths with somebody who gave me a hard time? I would ignore them, and they would probably be doing the same. There's no need for us to interact anymore.

Yes, I was out of my mind bored in school and someone had to provide a source of laughter for me and my friends. One girl had to switch schools.

You say that, but i was a pushover as a kid, i made friends with the bullies as fast as i could and it was easy. Thinking about them just makes me sad, like their life really did suck, big time.

Not all of them do... That's a stereotype. A well-adjusted kid with a stable home life can also do bullying, I have seen it plenty. It's more complex than just having a hard life.

Anonymous B replied with this 11 years ago, 2 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[^][v]#528,884
Not to me, its not that complex at all. Its a sign that you lack empathy when you torment people for fun. Those guys rarely if ever got any of that. If they could just admit it and seek help they would live a better life but they can't, help doesn't exist in their world. Nobody ever helped them.

Now you're changing your point. First it was about them having tough backgrounds, now it's about a lack of empathy.
And saying that they "don't get help" is also wrong. I personally knew kids who had plenty of friends and supportive parents, but who also bullied people. As for empathy, I bullied people myself quite a few times, despite occasionally feeling bad about it. So it's also incorrect to say that they all lack empathy.
Trying to reduce a behaviour to your own negative steeoetype isn't really a good way to assess said behaviour.
Anonymous E replied with this 11 years ago, 4 minutes later, 2 hours after the original post[^][v]#528,890
You bullied people also? huh? You know i was talking about the kids i knew, and how they did not receive any empathy most of the time. It is tough to not have parents who love you as much as they should.

I'm sure that's the case for some bullies, and is a contributing factor to their behaviour, but it's not the case for all of them.

I used to bully a guy in high school. Everyone did, because he was a retarded loser. Years later I saw him in a pub, I still remember the look on his face when he recognized me, and how he dropped his head and started looking for an escape route. I didn't let him get away though. I bought him a beer and apologized for what happened at school. Good feels

I was 'the fall guy'. Other kids did shit then got me blamed for it; that was mostly the extent of the bullying I experienced. Got in a few fights, but most kids didn't actually want to see what looked like a dead kid bleeding profusely laying face down on the ground, they only think they want that until they get it.
Remember kids, playing dead (especially if you're a bleeder) can cause the other kid to have a traumatic experience that will haunt them for years to come! Don't just get up, it's not a video game...

Sometimes assholes would get mad because they somehow noticed that I didn't use the vulgarist swears in common speech. I amuse myself today with snappy comebacks that I think would be good advice for the young ones.
Them: "Why don't you ever swear? You never say shit or whatever"
Me: "Fuck you, asshole"
yeah that'd be classic

I wasn't bullied much and the only one I can think of is in prison now anyway.

I was a bit, by a dude who like the last poster said, is in prison for well saying he raped a kid is a sanitized version of events, he was a crazy asshole who was being violent to random people non-stop. I punched him as he was trying some really shit karate on me. His adoptive parents must have thought something other than "He's going to use Karate for bullying" apart from that I got called thin by random peeps, and the "fights" were just shoving each other going "Come

Most people can trust me but this happened before I took that shit seriously so:
Mr Barnard of the Winston Churchill school said to me "Don't tell anyone I kissed a girl in here" oh okay. If he's gonna be that fucking blatant: I'm telling y'all that yes, he did in fact kiss a girl in there ( his office ) she was between 11-13 but so was I and only in hindsight does my pedo alarm start going "Pedo alert, pedo alert" it did stop her crying but she may havebeenn

May have been in shock. But if he's so blatant I bet he's got CP.... blackmail time -I need revenge, his fault I never got the revision material for GSCE's well even without it I aced English. Then years later a Swedish pedo banned me on account of his perfectionism being fucking pathological. Big difference between having high standards and banning all your users because no one's perfect. Fucking comma splices man I don't even know what they are but it got me some all caps rage and a ban which I evaded like the phoenix

I got into one fight in grade school. Some kid walked up and punched me in the face. He gave me a black eye. Meh. We were... like... nine? Whatever. No one cares. I made a big deal about it at the time, telling everyone that he had punched me for no reason. I guess he didn't like being teased. Some of my best friends have since given me black eyes while sparring or drunk-sparring... Yeah... Anyway, getting hip-tossed through drywall is fucking hilarious... Because my friends and I like to have (friendly) drunken brawls where you can do that.

I did get bullied in school, however I've always hated everyone. The people who have done me wrong, you're damn right I already got my revenge. I also had students come up to me and some even being on their knees for me to spare them the day I decide to shoot everyone up. and before I sound like Syntax, this is all I'm saying.
Edit: I'll also say I bullied and used to abuse my friends, however there's always going to be a bigger bully than you. I have been trash canned, locked up to fences, other bullshit I don't care to say. Never went home beat up though, but more I beat myself up and others were pussy. I'm pretty crazy I guess lol. Well, used to be. Oh, and my parents are alright.

Teachers are far worse than schoolyard bullies. Kids bullying one another is understandable, because, well, they're kids. But teachers don't have that excuse, as trained professionals they out to know better. Never understood why people are willing to forgive the adults who made their lives a living hell, but hold lifetime grudges against some twit who called them names in the hallway.

I've actually been thinking about this recently. There are a number of adults to whom I would love to ask "What the ever-loving fuck were you thinking?!?" Seriously, there were some adults that fall into the category "I saw through your bullshit then but just shined it all on to get by" that I would love to berate for making my childhood shitty to this day.
