What sort of hotline? That matters in my answer.

If you are thinking about it, call immediately. No harm right? And maybe they can help.

I had everything ready. I had just finished pulling the last pages of the note from my Canon Pixma™ MX922 multifunction inkjet printer. The words, neatly laid out in a tasteful yet modern 12 point Calibri bold spelled out a brief summary of the past five years: unrequited love, a layoff, and crushing debt. I had not bothered with a will, the creditors would surely tear and feast on the carcass of my meager estate. I placed the suicide note into an Oxford™ red imitation leather report cover, signed it with a 10kt gold filled Cross™ Century ballpoint pen, and looked longingly at the gun on the table, a Beretta 92 FS in nickel plate, 9mm with one round in the chamber. I lifted the gun, feeling the reassurance of the heavy weight in my hand, a heavy weight that would lift an even heavier burden momentarily Putting it to my head, I remembered what the man at the hospital had said: there was a hotline you could call in these crises, with nice people who would talk you down and make it all better. I put down the gun, and picked up the Motorola Razr™ V3 and dialed the numbers on the card.
"Hello, welcome to the suicide hotline. For English, press one, para Español, marque dos.

probably "developing an ordered thought process used to achieve a goal?"
but that's just a guess.

Seriously though. Its very different when you think "Would I prefer hanging or drowning?" versus "I know exactly where to buy arsenic".

You know what I mean?

oh, don't try poison, it's a horrible way to go. just fill up a plastic sack with the gas from whipped cream cans and put it over your head. you'll be gone in no time. (tape the bag on if you're serious)

and you can definitely do this for under $20
and whipped cream is sold in grocery stores, so, no problem there.

What if you just idly contemplate suicide, in a detached way. Not in like a "goodbye cruel world!" way, but just like "I wonder how it would play out to do X" and then you imagine it, think of the problems, benefits/drawbacks compared to other methods etc but have no plans to actually do it in the foreseeable future?

> gas from whipped cream cans

I used to make that gas as kiddlet Its real easy to make in a home lab. So I just hit web to find how toxic it really is and look at this

Nitric Oxide is given to infants who have respiratory problems However, inhaled nitric oxide has not proven to be beneficial in other conditions, such as acute respiratory distress syndrome in adults

My thought was if one could go with such a gas then why not fill a room with the whipped creme and eat self to a - undertakers cash in wallet. Sounds like a pleasant way to go if it wood really work and I mean fill a room or closet as a plastic bag just does not seem pleasant at all. One could include a lot of ice cream sundays

it is clear that inhaled nitric oxide has found its place in the clinical arena as a pulmonary vasodilator, but that the place needs to be more clearly defined. Term and near-term infants with hypoxemic respiratory failure, as a group, appear to benefit from the treatment.

If people use this gas for sewercide then its not page one or two Google news

people use it recreationally and die from it every year. it displaces oxygen in your body and you suffocate but you are unconscious in about 15 seconds.
technically what it is is a voluntary muscle relaxer and you lose the ability to move or even regulate your breathing, you just cease up, and if you don't get the oxygen back going (i.e. not have a bag around your head) then you'll knock out and die real quick. so don't do that unless you're really serious.

nitrous oxide is actually extremely dangerous in high concentrations.

you probably don't hear much about this method for a few reasons:
a) most people are pretty stupid and can't come up with anything they haven't already seen before, such as pills or car exhaust or guns.
b) most suicides are by gun, and again, it's because people are pretty stupid and just do what other people do, like jump off high things.
c) most suicide attempts are by people who don't really want to die, and this is a sure fire method that gets results fast. so just pop a handful of aspirin and call 911 if you want attention, this will get you dead.

It wouldn't surprise me if you had access to arsenic but really we're all smart here and if we wanted to end it the first attempt would be both painless and fatal

> Autopsy findings in our cases were subtle or negative, but usually suggestive of asphyxia. Through a laboratory simulation, we have confirmed that nitrous oxide displaces oxygen in a closed space, which probably leads to asphyxia. A review of the literature, neuropharmacology, and pathophysiology of nitrous oxide use is also presented.

And yes I read that one top to bottom in my quick search - In a closed space any gas that displaces oxygen wood led to passing out and death but looks like a sweet tasting gas which is even sweeter as whipped cream - Might not be such a bad way to go.

That said just one time my dentist offered me Nitro and I tried it and said no no stop - made my head feel like it was going to explode - When I made the stuff as kiddlet I remember much the same sensation - I lasted perhaps 30 seconds
