depends who you ask. plenty of people think they are in God's exclusive little club. i actually spoke with a client at work the other day who kept talking about "we're close" and "it's time for everyone to pick a side" and "i don't want to get left behind."
it was fucking creepy, tbh, it was completely uncalled for. The conversation was work related... and i just kept having to say, "i know what you mean," and "yeah, i know right?" because i didn't want to lose out on a bid.
anyway, creeped me the fuck out.
and i'm fucking serious, this actually happened. i mean intellectually i know that 40% of the people on the streets in America believe in the Rapture and that it's close enough it'll happen in their life-time, i know this, but i think i have a hard time actually believing people believe this. but then i meet people who are so openly not embarrassed about holding that belief and it... shocks me. i mean, this person has a really good job and is in a position of authority at their company, and they don't believe the world is going to last longer than their own lifetime. Really unsettling thinking that people in places of power and influence don't see humans as having a future beyond 20 or 30 years.
Wanna know why most americans don't give a fuck about climate change? Jesus is coming, so don't worry about it. Our children have no future on earth, so why bother caring about it? fucking seriously.

I'm reminded of something I read recently, about how a city council in Alabama declared God the owner of their city. While it's sorta funny on the surface, it's also slightly disturbing that they've decreed that an imaginary being owns their city. Nevermind how it has undertones of a theocracy (not that I expect this'll change to day-to-day administrating at all, but it still has that feel).

but it does make you wonder, what if google actually does make an AI and people have access to it. Would putting it into a mannequin and fucking it be... like in anyway okay? i mean it's artificial and can't, you know, feel anything, but the implications of having an AI captive and using as a sex toy is... like really weird, wouldn't you say? i mean that's gotta violate some kind of law, i mean, at least god's law. no fucking animals has got to extend to Ai fuck toys, am i right? or does the bible not inform us on anything beyond the technology of the wheel?
