Actually, we've had flying cars since (at least) the 1940s, but they've just never really caught on. In October 2014, inventor Greg Henderson demonstrated a prototype hoverboard working on a magnetic levitation principle. We don't have cyborgs of the kind depicted in B2TF 2, but prototype powered exoskeletons have been developed by Lockheed Martin.

On paper you and I could take the Shanghai Maglev Train hover train design which moves at the slow pace of almost 430 kilometers per hour. Magnets in car and buried under your city streets could lift the car up 8 to 12 millimeters. Just bury a system for multiple lanes under city streets and one wood hope a quality source of power to make this all work and with Google technology one just gets into car which could according to VW look much like this.
Expecting distances much greater makes no sense other then for good Si Fi movies or cartoons. One just needs to overcome friction of wheels on ground so 10 millimeters is more then good nuff for such. 25 Feet wood be sad for birds that currently are trying to survive Wind generators and locally a Huge on line Solar power plant is frying birds in mass numbers.
