Topic: Do you now why Tor is called Tor?

Because "der Tor" means "gate" in German. You are welcome.

And I'm sure it has nothing to do with it being called The Onion Router

"The Onion Router" was chosen because "Tor" means gate. They work together.

False. They do admit the translations in German and Turkish make it a nice choice, but the original reason for its naming is because tor was short for The Onion Router. https://www.torproject.org/docs/faq.html.en#WhyCalledTor

Seriously, they have a fucking FAQ entry dedicated to this, and you decide to pretend to know better than the founders?

The founders are but clueless plebs. I am choosing the believe the OP, they clearly have the sharper insight.

Most programmers aren't very good with language. See: gif, etc. The name has no intended link with any foreign words' definitions. OP is just --being-- trying to be clever.

You could've learned this from the Tor website @OP
Probably the front page of it.

Tor, if an acronym - should be capitalised. I make exceptions, I rarely capitalise "lol" because it looks fucking retarded LOL
