Try a few different registrars, and try to register "xn--zkr.com" (which is what å.com will bring you to). It look unregistered at the moment.
The "xn--zkr" thing is there because not all browsers support unicode in the address bar. Try going to å.com and it will say it's requesting xn--zkr.com. Safari will show it just as "å.com".
EDIT: Fuck Minichan's stupid markup code. There are two dashes between "Xn" and "zlr" but that makes a strikethrough.
