I find the French hatred in America a little weird seeing as French intervention pretty much secured US victory while we were fighting for independance. I'm not seeing how we can practically define US intervention in two world wars with "Lafayette we have returned!" and suddenly be... like... what? history? French naval superiority and the thousands of French troops at Yorktown won us our country, but France is totally weak... right? They only conquered all of Europe from Madrid to Moscow - Just the only European power to exceed the scope of the Roman empire. Totally a backwater of military power.
