Topic: Watermarking 500 photos: worth it?

It makes them look bad, and anyone can just Photoshop the watermark out anyway. To watermark, or not to watermark?

Getty image source uses a transparent technique that is designed to prevent removal by photoshop and other current tools on the marketplace.

Yes there are a couple of tools to reduce but so far not remove the new watermark

Watermarks? You can just color pick and then contrast adust or whatever. I've done it a to a bunch of stock photos. Doesn't take a second in Photoshop. Don't bother. Anyone who is bent on using your pictures will do it anyway. If you want to put shit on the Internet, it should be shit you don't mind being reproduced and shared. Because... The Internet is about sharing information. If you have information that you don't want reproduced and want to control, then don't put it on the Internet.

EDIT: Unless you are a photographer for National Geographic or some kind of agency that has a legal team standing by to go after people reposting your images, I'm guessing that watermarking shit isn't going to be a solid solution.

That depends on what you will be doing with these photos, and if you have any legal standing to have them taken down in the future. A watermark may help if the photo gets reused elsewhere by someone who is not savvy enough to remove the watermark (There are a LOT of people on this earth who fit in that category), but make sure to keep copies without the watermarks as well.

If you are going down this road, for god's sake don't manually watermark them all. There's batch software available, and I think even PS can do that.
