Topic: Do you think we'll be able to colonize Mars within our lifetime?

Green started this discussion 11 years ago #39,232

Technology is advancing at an impressive rate. I think we could be able to terraform Mars within 40 or so years.

Terraforming is quite a ways off. But a colony, albeit a small one, is being planned. This project aims to get people over to Mars in 2024. So, if it works, Mars will be colonised within our lifetimes.

I, for one, think it's fantastic, it's like something out of a sci-fi. Would be such an achievement for humanity.

Oh crap. We haven't even colonized it yet, and now we have to civilize it too?? Well, I guess if most of population is still robots we can just program them to be polite and use the correct fork at meals.

did you know that mars is entirely populated by robots?

That wouldn't be a problem if you were to use proper grammar, like the rules dictate. The minimum is three letters, so "No." works just fine.

In the interests of eugenics, no one with a short body will be sent to colonize Mars.

I think there are better candidates than Mars, but they are not as easy to reach.

They never specified which calendar system. But worse than that, they never specified which inertial reference frame we should even be making measurements with respect to.

I saw a Mars lander scrawled onto a toilet stall, which means they have to do it.
