Whenever I visit Popeye's Chicken or KFC I always see tons of black people there. This just makes me think they themselves are enforcing the stereotype themselves that they also complain about.

I can imagine it is the ones who actually visit these places that complain.

Why not turn it into a term of endearment if you truly go there because you love chicken?

All these years, I thought I liked chicken cause it was delicioius; but turns out, I'm genetically predisposed to likin chicken!

Because fried chicken and watermelons were infrequent delicacies for poor Black folk and there are many cartoon caricatures of large-mouthed and ugly people eating the foods. This would be hard to reclaim as positive heritage.

They use to sometimes give slaves watermelon as a treat. People would see them hlcelebrating and eating it and say"Look how happy the niggers are, they enjoy the hard work" So watermelon came to symbolize a happy, simple people who stay content as long as they remember their roles in society.
Also, a lot of packaging used to have illustrations of very dark black people, smiling with huge teeth, and holding up slices of watermelon.

Assuming many southern black people probably like soul food isn't entirely wrong but throwing around 'chicken and watermelon' is

Also if i go to a Popeyes in half moon bay it's gonna be all white people
A kfc in Daly City it's probably gonna be mostly asian
When I go to Popeyes on Fillmore it's mostly black
It depends on where you are

Idk why I waste my breath when I know OP is just trying to justify their use of racist stereotypes tho
And I don't know anyone denying that they like kfc, but having stereotypes - even positive ones - applied to you based on your perceived ethnicity isn't a fun experience
However harmless your bullshit seems its still bullshit

I agree. Reducing somebody to a stereotype is never good, especially not on some trivial aspect like gender or ethnicity.
