I've heard Canadians are all too polite to engage in fisticuffs. If you insist though, okay Canada too.

Why is "Boxing Day" so called?

Dictated

Boxing Day is a holiday traditionally celebrated the day following Christmas Day, when servants and tradespeople would receive gifts, known as a "Christmas box", from their bosses or employers, in the United Kingdom and many Commonwealth countries. It has nothing to do with the sport of boxing

So it was that Mater and Pater ordered that all the preparatory peeling and waste from Christmas Lunch and Tea and the left overs there from should be saved in swill buckets and distributed this morning amongst the peasantry of the estate.

Waifs and strays in their Sunday Best rags accumulated from afar and it was necessary to call for the assistance of the local Constabulary to maintain control such was the gratefulness being shown. One dear old chap rose from his deathbed to be in attendance and could no more help tugging at his forelock than a dog can help wagging his tail when it sees it's master. Sadly, he choked to death eating the gratefully received potato peeling and carrot tops.

My Father, in grand style, appeared on the balcony, despite the morning chill, and wished everyone the Seasons Greetings. He also reminded them that work started at 5:30 in the morning and anyone arriving late would be horsewhipped.

Offering me fatherly advice he reminded me that it beheld a man of his status to befriend and act kindly towards the Estate peasantry.

LOL
