Topic: Does anyone here accept credit cards for a personal business?

If so, which cards do you accept, and what's the method you use?

Nope. I have a business, but I only accept cold, hard cash.

That is my preference as well, but there are enough people who ask to pay by credit card that I'm afraid I'm losing out.

What sort of business is it? Mine is targeted toward a local audience only, so they will pay cash. If you are selling products non-locally, then yes, a credit card is good. Is it an online business? If not, you can contact the credit card companies and they will set you up with a machine.

I provide a service, generally to locals. Most are willing to pay cash or write a check. I'm starting to look around for what banks are the best to deal with as you do need to have an intermediary with the credit card company, it appears.

I was not a fan of credit cards. Liked having all bills paid off in full every month. Then interest rates dropped to almost zero. Bank Saving accounts make no sense now but I still have them.

So NOW I keep switching to the latest flavor of credit cards that offer COLD HARD CASH BACK! Discovered a 2nd advantage - Chase bank. I think Chase Sapphire was the first to offer 1.5% Cold Hard Cash back with NO LIMITS - No rules - AND fantastic customer service. One ring phone pick up and often a Bank VP on the line which means more help then anyone could need and ENGLISH is most perfect.

However my quest for Cold Hard Cash back started with Bank of America with the 1% for this and 2% for that and 3% for gas. Never once used that 3% option cause off brand gas is always a better deal.

NOW its 2% Cold HARD CASH BACK with Fidelity Investments Amex card - the only problem with it is - still a few places that do not take AMEX.

Also every single card I have tried and in the case of Chase - 1ST B o A offered me $25 to use their card then they came out with other cards each giving me up front $25 for FREE

Then Chase bank comes out with offers of $50 n $100 n $150 and then back when it was some bank Chase later bought (Mutual something) it was $200 n $250 to open checking accounts, Most of those offers have now to many strings attached. Last new Chase offer for money up front (60 days later) open new account with no fee if minimum balance is $1500 but if you drop one penny below they charge a monthy fee - It paid $250 to take and use their checking account AND Again $150 to use the Freedom Credit card.

Chase by the way allows me to close the account and then open up a new account with that Cold Hard Cash so I am looking forward to racking up more money in a couple of months but Have to wait 6 months cause rule says only COLD HARD Cash once a year - Except each new offer of say a Master card means $100 AND Chase n B o A have a slew of Credit card names -

I am only using Fidelity re the 2% cash back until someone else steps up with a cash up front offer plus matching the unlimited no BS 2% back.

One final word on why to get credit cards. If you use one just once a year it remains OPEN - AND what ever credit they offer adds to your Credit Score - Which means if you ever want to get a business loan or a car loan or buy a house at bottom line interest - the better the credit score in USA the car loan etc with end up with lower payments. And its an EGO boost to see a super credit score.

Looking for deals on credit cards? Hit Google as they always have lists of who pays up front and how to get the best deal/card -

Yes. Credit and debt, up to 10x
We work with high value products so we need to be open on the paying methods

Why wood anyone in business not accept credit cards?

You said
> but there are enough people who ask to pay by credit card that I'm afraid I'm losing out.

Dua can you name me a successful business on Planet Earth that does not accept credit cards? Yes YOU yes YOU have to discount as cash back to the bank and a few business do offer a lower price for cash. All the places I get my car gas from do it that way. One price for Cash n a few cents more for Credit card.

Sure, pretty much any business in my country. Nearly noone has credit cards here, they are awfully old fashioned and everyone uses debit cards. Online payments use iDeal which is a national payment system set up by the banks, which is quite safe & secure, a lot better than giving someone your credit card details which they can use to withdraw nearly anything from your card.

> Nearly noone has credit cards here,

Betting Netherlands is still dependent on USA Toruista business. Debit cards a USA traveler wood use wood also cost a huge fee on any system they are not part of. One year ago I was mostly a Debit card user. Now with all the Cash back deals on credit cards, I have stopped using my Debit cards other then to get cash at a supermarket, because to do that on a credit card, it just makes no sense re a fee to get cash.

Once upon a time in USA one got a new toaster for opening a new account. For the last 4 years banks want new customer accounts so they gin up the let us give you $100 - $200 . Pisses me off that each time I go in for a new account - the very next week I get a new letter from that same bank offering me that card for $50 more. Most a bank has paid me is $250 but for the most part those deals are no good for me anymore because most banks insist on at least one direct deposit monthly and I have run out of direct deposit clients. @previous (squeegee)

Even farmer markets I go to - just about everyone has the Square card reader for phone to do a transaction. Only thing I do not like about it as a customer is: Instead of seeing who I did business with, I end up seeing Square instead of the vendor. Was shopping Best Buy yesterday and they had one of this from Square for Ipads - $99 for the stand and reader for a fully professional look.

Sorry, but I am pretty sure that Syntax has been personally involved in running and even setting up the modern Dutch economy. You simply do not know as much about this as him. Thanks.
